We are continuing our monthly Foreign Fridays series on Nov 27th! This monthly series will be hosted by Board Member, filmmaker, and travel lover, Jason Caridi. In addition to foreign films, the theme of this series will include those that explore foriegnness. The ways people interact with their novel surroundings is poetically tied in with how they interact with one another. We hope to see you there!

About the film: In the last days of World War I, a Scottish soldier is sent into an abandoned French town to defuse a hidden German bomb. He finds it occupied only by the residents of the local asylum, who have taken over the empty streets and crowned him their King of Hearts. Philippe de Broca’s whimsical anti-war fable, starring Alan Bates and Geneviève Bujold, flopped on release but found its audience years later. It became a beloved cult classic that ran for years in American art-house cinemas and asks who is really mad: the people inside the asylum walls or the world outside them.
