Meet Sam Stein: an anxious, newly unemployed paralegal in New York who somehow ends up babysitting his therapist's three granddaughters — and falling for their mother in the process. The mother in question is Dianne, an actress with a stalled career and a rocky marriage, played by a radiant Amanda Peet, returning to film after ten years and earning a Special Jury Award at SXSW for her trouble. It's slight but pleasing — a romantic comedy about smart, neurotic New Yorkers with a stellar ensemble cast and just enough emotional gut-punch to make you forget you were smiling the whole time.
