Classic Fridays with Jamison: "The Clock"

Join us for February's edition of 'Classic Fridays with Jamison'!

Because I selected a romantic film for my 'Foreign Fridays' series, and the month of February in general tends to be a time of romance and a celebration of love, I thought that for this month's classic movie I would also choose a movie that explores these themes. Wanting to pick a classic with depth that would have viewers swoon, but that perhaps wasn't one of the more expected films, "The Clock" felt like the right choice.

Released the same year they got married, this film marks the second collaboration in earnest between director Vincente Minnelli and star Judy Garland. It's a fascinating film because it marked a monumental turn in Garland's career, as it was the first movie of her career in which she does not sing - a film that showcases how gifted and talented Garland was as an actress and not just as a singer and performer. It's also just a wonderful film that I am sure people will enjoy watching together and then discussing after the screening ends.

So mark your calendars for Friday, February 27th at 7:00pm - I can't wait to see you all at the ACME!
