U.S. Army psychiatrist Douglas Kelley (Rami Malek) is tasked with monitoring the mental fitness of the Nazi prisoners for trial. He becomes locked in a complex battle of wits with Hitler's former second-in-command, Hermann Göring (Russell Crowe), while chief prosecutor Robert H. Jackson (Michael Shannon) works to build the legal case against the regime. The film uses actual Holocaust footage in the courtroom scenes to emphasize the horrors of the atrocities.
