Christopher Jason Bell is a filmmaker and a board of director of the streaming co-op MeansTV. His archival doc series about the George W. Bush presidency, MISS ME YET, can be watched on MeansTV and received praise from numerous outlets such as The Baffler, AV Club, and Filmmaker Magazine. His third feature FAILED STATE premiered at Torino Film Festival and is continuing to screen across the world. His newest documentary short, ATTENTION SHOPPERS, features Abby Martin and can be viewed on MeansTV. His latest narrative short, THE CONFECTION, is now playing the festival circuit.
Mitch Blummer is a filmmaker and cinematographer with 10 years of experience in New York City. Mitch has shot and produced content for cable television from Vice/HBO, Animal Planet, Discovery ID and Travel Channel; International film festivals like Tribeca Film Festival, New York Short Film Festival, Vail Film Festival, Santa Barbara Film Festival, DOCNYC and New Filmmakers New York; Mitch's work is widely found on the web as well in the form of branded content and commercials for companies like L'Oreal, Maybeline, Adidas, Oscar Healthcare, and MSG to a variety of internet VOD services like Netflix, Amazon Prime and Vimeo.
About the film: Many things were on our mind even before 2020 had hit. The pandemic exacerbated problems and heightened contradictions that were already on the tipping point. After working with Dale on previous shorts, we decided to make another small project but much bigger in scope. We followed Dale on his real job as a freelance messenger and built a story around him, adding a cast of characters pulled from all of our experiences. Dale is overworked and doesn’t have a choice in the matter, but he makes a point to carve out a fruitful, meaningful life in between gigs. Explored is what happens when the exploitation of labor is well past what is unacceptable.
